Oil Types Explained
Conventional Oil
Standard mineral-based oil. Cheapest option, shorter change intervals (3,000-5,000 miles). Good for older engines with simple designs.
Synthetic Blend
Mix of conventional and synthetic. Better protection than conventional at a moderate cost. Good for trucks and SUVs with moderate loads.
Full Synthetic
Engineered molecules for maximum protection. Best for modern engines, turbocharged engines, and extreme conditions. Longest change intervals (7,500-15,000 miles).
How to Check Your Oil Level
- Park on a level surface and wait 5 minutes after turning off the engine
- Pull the dipstick out and wipe it clean with a rag
- Reinsert the dipstick fully, then pull it out again
- The oil level should be between the MIN and MAX marks
- If low, add oil in small amounts (0.25-0.5 qt) and recheck
- Check oil color: golden/amber is good, dark black may indicate it needs changing
